You may already know Josh Flagg if you’re a fan of the show Million Dollar Listing on Bravo. And you may already know about his famous grandmother, Edith Flagg, who single-handedly brought Polyester to the U.S. in the 1960s (and here you though it was an Esther, not an Edith).

But you probably don’t know about Josh’s new book, A Simple Girl – Stories My Grandmother Told Me. What’s more, you probably don’t know that Josh is donating most of the proceeds of this fun, insightful account of his grandmother’s life, to the Federation. That’s right: every copy you buy over at his Web site, JoshFlagg.com, goes to help those in need.

Check it out, and check out my interview with Josh below. And be sure to tun into the next season of Million Dollar Listing, premiering October 12th on Bravo.

Everyone knows that hunger is a big problem world-wide. But did you know right here in the U.S. we’ve got our own serious problem? That’s why Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore made this video (with the help of non-celebs around the country), and why Mike Myers, Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Edge and a bunch of other famous folk made this vid.

Here in Los Angeles, the hunger capital of the country, 1 in 8 people are what we call food insecure. By my way of thinking, in a country with a network and infrastructure to feed everyone, that’s just Fail with a capital F.
Picture 3
To do something about the growing problem, many organizations have teamed up under the banner Fed Up With Hunger, and are trying to spread awareness to stop the hunger.

So what can YOU do to help fight hunger? Forward the video on the site’s homepage to as many people as you can, to help educate people to the problem.

new-ipod-nano-video-1What do you get, besides satisfaction that you’re doing your part? Well, everyone who forwards the video will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a free iPod Nano (did you know they now shoot video?). But there’s more: the three hunger-fighters who forward the video to the most people (only legit e-mails please!), will all win autographed copies of Josh’s novel, A Simple Girl.

How do you get started? Simple: go to FedUpWithHunger.org and watch the homepage vid. You’ll see an option to forward it to your friends. The Web site tracks all the results, so be sure to enter your real e-mail address, or at least one where we can contact you if you win.

Josh I find you to be a classless arrogant person. Please let me know why you think you are so great because I find you to be an unwarranted snob with delusional selfadmiration.

Matt DeFede October 19, 2009 at 6:54 am

From one realtor to another Love the attitude if you didnt have it you would be just like one of the broker open hopping sandwich snatching realtors I see in Jersey, gotta try standing on the table during my next negotiation :)

dieann November 2, 2009 at 10:42 pm

Josh I admire your confidence and your honesty with your clients! Watch the show just for you!

DLB November 5, 2009 at 11:48 am

Josh, I think you’re a true talent. I like your attitude – quirky, but cool. If you don’t like yourself and speak the truth, no one else will. I also like your work smarter not harder attitude. I wish you the best. I also had a very inspirational grandmother, and I think it’s cool you respect her so much! Peace, DLB

I like your style and the way you handle yourself. You do a great job marketing each property. I would give you a listing if I lived in the area. Continue the great job!

eric November 9, 2009 at 8:05 pm

keep going Josh you blow Chad & Madison away with business savvy roll on dude!!!!!!

Carole November 11, 2009 at 1:01 pm

I will be buying your book, for myself and for friends as gifts. For the love of hair, please take pruning shears to that weenie Chad. He is an arrogant little user of people and even dogs, for goodness’ sake. The fact that he drags that poor dog around is easier to understand, knowing he works for Rick Hilton. You may be driven, but I have only seen you “use” yourself to get ahead.

Elisa November 12, 2009 at 10:09 pm

Josh – I would love to read this book. People should take into account you are a young man with an extraordinary wealth of knowledge. It’s not cockiness but a sense of understanding and passion for what you do. I love your confidence and watching the way you work. You are very lucky to have such a savvy & loving mentor in Edith Flagg.

nancy hart November 19, 2009 at 9:39 pm

Josh
They’ll always be haters…I love your style, your my favorite realtor.

Ceil November 24, 2009 at 9:01 am

Just ordered the book & can’t wait to read it. You can’t know where you’re going without understanding where you came from. You are not a reality star, you are a young man that is as wonderfully unique to your generation as your Grandmother was to hers. You demonstrate that men of your generation can have both edge and HEART. I love you to death! With best wishes for your continued success. God bless!

Deanie DeLap November 24, 2009 at 9:32 pm

You’re the best and the arrogant one is Chad!
You know what you’re talking about (most of the time)…Look forward to reading the book.
Last epidode going to Holland with your g’ma brought tears to my eyes and this was the best
episode yet….

Dottie Sandiego November 29, 2009 at 11:14 am

OK, you two I gotta say, I was very unaware of a lot of things. Josh, I was watching MDL and seen the episode where U & Your lovely Grandmother went to Holland to visit the camp. It intrigued me to start doing research as I did I became more and more compelled due to the fact there are lots of lost camps. One in which took the lives of over 1,000,000. I’m curious if you also intend to shed a bit more light on this subject? It has compelled me to find out more I hope it does you all too.

Josh love the show keep it up only good things for you.

Josh,
You clearly have more balls than Chad, and I bet your shaft is longer and thicker too. Good work with the book; I’ll definitely be getting a copy.

Josh,
I own a Real Estate Appraisal firm in Florida. Could the market suck any worse? I shouldn’t say that, because the answer is yes it could :-( Anyway, just wanted to commend you on your business savvy & your patience with Chad (I might have put a “hit” out on him by now JK). Speaking of Chad, after last nights episode, I left a comment on his website about what an ass he made of himself. That you were the bigger man by approaching him & offering to call a truce. But he couldn’t let the past go. Which made him a complete hypocrite, since he had just finished bashing Madison for not letting the past go. I told him I thought he was threatened by you & I want sure why because you’re a really nice guy. And that since the 2 of you calling a truce would have been best both personally & professionally, that he had missed a good opportunity. Oh yeah & what ws he talking about you bringing his Mom into it?? You had obviusly paid her some very nice & sincere compliments. I told him he now owed you an apology. And that if he didn’t have the guts to post my comment he could email me. LOL. He emailed me once befoe about a year or so ago when I left him a comment telling him his hair might be bad for his career. I have a hard time believing he isn’t gay. That hair, that dog, that whiny-ness, the toilet paper for God sakes!!! I mean I have no problem with gay people, I love Madison, just… Admit it already, Chad. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to get off track & write a novel; Chad just makes me crazy! Speaking of novels – Congrats! I look forward to reading your book! I, too was very close to my Grandmother. Unfortunately, she got Alzheimers several years ago & passed away a few years later. I still miss her sooo much. She was my best friend. I’m glad you are smart enough to enjoy the time you have left with yours! Wishing you all the best & Happy Holidays!

Marcela Falkenberg December 8, 2009 at 10:44 am

Josh..You are a truly deeper person than most people can see. I thinl that I appriciate you most for beign so close to your grandmother and in her story I see alot of you and your dedication to succeed in everything you do. Your determination will take you far as long as you never forget who you are and where you come from and by that I mean your family roots. Enjoy your grandmother as much as you can every day and dont be afraid to open your heart. I watch the show just to see you grow as an individual and a great person. I will buy your book as well not for you but to learn from that incredible woman that is your grandmother. You are to Blessed to be Stressed !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Landa December 8, 2009 at 3:49 pm

Josh, I really enjoy watching you on the show. Always so excited and can’t wait for it to come on. Your an inspiration always speaking your mind and not being afraid and confident. Very handsome as well.
The only thing that saddens me especially because of how much I really really like you, and am a big fan, is that there is such sadness in your eyes, maybe alittle bitterness. I too at one point of my life had the same look for many years, but changed when I came to grips with the reason. I pray that you will find peace and happiness, that I know money cannot buy, but wonder what is behind your unhappiness. I mean no disrespect, and express my view in the hopes that you would come to realize what is burdening your spirit. I have always told my children that the eyes of a person are the windows of their heart(spirit). I do believe this if you just look.
Your an incredible person and just wish and pray for the best yet to come.
Be blessed my friend :)
An sincere admirer….

P.S. If you ever need a friend to talk to I’d be more than happy to email back.

Linda December 8, 2009 at 9:31 pm

Hey Josh, love you, love your grandmother. You two rock. I would buy a house from you and/or have you sell mine. You’re on the right track. ***k Chad.

Christine December 9, 2009 at 11:00 am

Love your work ethics. You really shine when you have a deal that is not so normal. I am starting a career in real estate and hope that I can be all of what you are. And I must say your business sense is such a turn on. Keep it up and hope for the best for you.

Andrea December 9, 2009 at 4:09 pm

Josh,
I have so enjoyed watching both you and your grandmother this season – and listening to her advice and encouragement She is a wise woman with much to share. You are so lucky to have her and she is fortunate to have a grandson who makes himself available and is willing to listen. I only wish that I still had time with my Nana – another wonderfully wise woman.
All the best,
Andrea

Uncle Paul... December 9, 2009 at 8:01 pm

Josh, I’m with you & Madison – Chad drives us nuts – acts like he’s been scripted – he’ll likely never be devoted to anyone but himself! (enough of that) You’re well founded! Good luck & godspeed on the future – we’ll be watching..

Cynthia December 11, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Josh, you and your Grandma are so cool together. You are a very sweet and dedicated person. I have really enjoyed watching your show. I hope to see you next season. I also will be checking out your book. Take Care to the both of you!

Lily December 23, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Josh, You are a wonderful person to do what you did for your grandmother. It is the best gift someone can do for someone who has experienced such a life and tell it for them.
I am sure your grandma is very proud of you and greatful.
I love how you and your grandmother are very close. So cute on the show together.
Can’t wait to get the book and read her story.
Take care buddy xoxo

My wife and I bought the book and loved it! I admire her guts and determination. Josh is quite a personality and will do just fine in the tough California real estate market.

Cathie March 6, 2010 at 3:00 am

Hey Josh! I’m such a Fan of yours! I think you are just an amazingm respectful & not too mention an intelligent young man! Your Gramma truly has to be an inspiration to you as my Gramma is to me! I think you are the Best guy on the show! I like Madison, however, Chad drives me absolutely crazy! The Guy is NUTS! & I think you have more maturity in your baby finger than that guy has in his entire body! He’s not all there, seriously…But you keep doing what you do best! Selling Beautiful Homes & being a truly amazing young man whom your family MUST be proud of! I so love the show, & if it weren’t for you, I probably wound’t even watch it!
Keep Up the Good Work!
Cheers!
